The collection contains five letters written to Bridget Hughes by her father Daniel McConville and by her uncles James and John McConville. The letters discuss both family news and general events. They are particularly noteworthy in their dicussion of the economic and social impact of the Famine. The collection also contains facsimiles and typed transcriptions of the original letters, background information and a copy of an article written by Eamom McCreave, O.S.M. about the letters.
